REG100. STUD BOOK.
Reglen lyder: The official Stud Book of the American Quarter Horse Association consists of horses issued registration certificates based upon their parentage. These certificates shall be either in the
Numbered registry or in that of the Appendix, depending upon the registration status of the sires and dams. Prior to 1962, foals registered with AQHA might have been in the registries labeled Numbered, Permanent, Tentative, Old Appendix and New Appendix, but only the Numbered and Appendix exist today. Effective with foals born on or after 1/1/2024, the official identification document, Certificate of Registration, for an American Quarter Horse registered with AQHA will be in digital format. Horses born prior to 1/1/2024, will remain a printed document. The Certificate of Registration carries the requirement that the registered American Quarter Horse shall be subject to and bound by the Official Handbook of Rules and Regulations.
REG108.5
Reglen lyder: All stallions are required to have genetic health panel test results on file with AQHA prior to the registration of their foals resulting from breedings occurring after January 1, 2015. A test added to the health panel after January 1, 2015, will reflect a separate effective date. Stallions tested prior to an effective date to comply with the rule will not be required to re-test for a new variant added unless the rule explicitly enforces it.
REG108.5.6
Reglen lyder: Myosin-Heavy Chain Myopathy (MYHM) is an inherited disease that results in two distinct clinical disease presentations, immunemediated myositis (IMM) and non-exertional rhabdomyolysis. Immune-mediated myositis or IMM is characterized by episodes of severe muscle atrophy following an autoimmune event. The second is severe muscle pain and damage termed non-exertional rhabdomyolysis that is not associated with exercise and may or may not have muscle atrophy. Effective January 1, 2023.
REG127.2
Reglen lyder: When AQHA records indicate a horse has lived 30 years past January 1 of its foaling year, it will be automatically presumed to no longer be alive and automatically removed from the inventory
of living horses. Offspring conceived after that date are ineligible for registration and the horse may not participate in AQHA-approved events until the owner verifies the horse is still living. Verification may
require full-view color photographs and a written statement which the owner may be requested to provide on an annual basis.
SHW127.1
Reglen lyder: None of the following persons may enter or exhibit horses, nor may any horse owned by any of the following persons be entered and exhibited, in any AQHA-approved open or amateur show: (a) any show official for such particular AQHA-approved open or amateur show at which he/she is a show official; (b) any member of the immediate family [as defined in SHW220.1] of a show official, if such immediate family member is also living in the same household; or (c) the owner or tenant of the grounds on which such particular AQHA-approved open or amateur show is being held and whose ownership could influence the outcome of such show. Youth events and alliance shows, where it is acceptable by the rules of the alliance, are excluded from coverage under this rule.
SHW127.1.1
Reglen lyder: International owners and tenants of international showground facilities are excluded from SHW127.1. In addition, horses registered in their names may compete at AQHA shows hosted on their property.
SHW225.8
Reglen lyder: Notwithstanding SHW225.3.2 above, amateurs may appear in advertisements and/or endorse products or services. Renumeration, direct or indirect, may be received for these activities.
SHW236
Reglen lyder: International youth members (excluding Canada) may exhibit a non-owned, non-leased horse in regular youth division classes. Although a youth may show a non-owned horse in the youth division, doing so could violate AMATEUR ELIGIBLITY.
